Consultations offered at our three convenient locations in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles and Newport Beach
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) with pellets is a minimally invasive treatment that helps men and women restore optimal hormone levels caused by aging. A balanced mixture of hormones and testosterone encourage healthy growth, metabolism, and fertility in our bodies. As we age, the production of fewer hormones means our bodies will go through bothersome symptoms such as fatigue, depression, and fat buildup. Unfortunately, women patients may see additional and extremely unpleasant symptoms during menopause. Hormonal imbalances are a complicated issue because they can be caused by aging or by a variety of other health issues. Luckily, there’s an innovative solution for these symptoms: HRT pellets. These small pellets can provide a huge relief from the common symptoms that stem from hormone imbalances. Dr. Christopher Asandra of AsandraMD is here to help, and offers this treatment to those looking to restore balance. About Hormone Replacement Therapy
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can be traced to the 1960s. However, it wasn’t until the 1990s when this treatment became more widely administered. Recently, the usage of HRT has generated renewed interest in its effectiveness and benefits, and further developments in replacement hormones have made it a safe and viable option. A reanalysis conducted by the Women’s Health Institute (WHI) and a Danish clinical trial have found that early postmenopausal women receiving HRT saw improvement to ther cardiovascular health, reducing coronary disease and mortality.
About Hormone Pellets
Advances in medical science have allowed today’s replacement hormones to be administered in various different forms. One of them is pellets. This form of treatment is favored by doctors and patients alike because of its ease and effectiveness. Pellets are about the size of a small grain of rice. Inside is a healthy dosage of testosterone, estrogen, estradiol, or a combination of the three. The pellet is inserted in the hip through a small incision. In the months that follow, the pellets gradually release a therapeutic amount of hormones that restore balance and provide much-needed relief. Pellets usually last between 3-4 months in women and 4-5 months in men. Best of all, the entire process of placing pellets is fast, and only takes 5-10 minutes!
Men and women have benefitted from HRT with pellet treatment. Both genders can experience relief from various symptoms commonly associated with hormone imbalances caused by aging.
Testosterone Hormone Therapy
This hormone therapy for men improves energy, sexual performance, and mood. The treatment uses 2-10 pellets to deliver an appropriate amount of male hormones. Over the course of 3-4 months, patients will see huge improvements in their health and wellbeing. Men have seen the following symptoms reduced or eliminated:
- Receding or thinning hairline
- Stress, depression, and mood swings
- Reduced energy
- Weight changes
- Low sex drive
- Inability to focus
Women benefit from pellets containing estrogen, testosterone, and /or progesterone. They can see improvements in the following symptoms:
- Menopause symptoms
- Hot flashes
- Low bone density
- Sweating at night
- Mood swings and depression
- Unable to focus
- Thinning hair
- Vaginal dryness
- Low libido and lack of sexual pleasure
Many healthy men and women turn to HRT with pellets for its effectiveness in stabilizing estrogen and testosterone to ensure their well-being. If you’re considering treatment, you should meet the following criteria:
- Should not have serious medical conditions such as cancer, heart conditions, high blood pressure, or at risk for blood clots.
- Desire to correct common symptoms of mood swings, inability to focus, changes in sleeping patterns, metabolism, or bone/muscle mass
- Over 40 years old
- Finished with the family planning process

Preparation and Procedure
For your pellet therapy, Dr. Asandra will first gently anesthetize the hip so he can make a small incision. He will then insert 1-2 tiny pellets (about the size of a grain of rice) just under the skin. These pellets will contain the necessary dosage of hormones. Gradually, the pellets release a steady supply of hormones into the body over 3-6 months. Pellets will dissolve on their own, so there is no need to remove them from the body. When they are fully absorbed, patients are invited to come back to the office for another round of pellets.
Since everyone has unique hormonal conditions, symptoms will resolve at different rates. You’ll meet regularly with Dr. Asandra to check your progress. Patients can resume their day-to-day activities as soon as they leave our offices, and there is no lengthy recovery or downtime. Some patients have reported improvement in as little as 1-2 days; others saw relief in 1-4 weeks. However, the full benefits can be seen after 2-4 months. Until then, patients may have mild tenderness in the chest, irritability, fatigue, and acne. These are normal reactions as the body gradually adjusts to the influx of new hormones. These symptoms will subside within a few weeks.
Each patient will respond differently to HRT. However, as your levels regain balance, you can look forward to life without mood swings, discomfort, low drive, and forgetfulness. Patients typically see an improvement in their physical and emotional well-being within the six weeks after treatment. More energy and stamina arrive in another month or two. Because pellets gradually dissolve and will last between 3-5 months in men and 5-6 months in women, patients may need to return for new pellets to be placed and to continue their progress.
Corresponding & Complementary Procedures
Dr. Asandra is pleased to offer patients a variety of different anti-aging treatments. At your consultation, we will work together to find a solution that will help you achieve balanced health and wellness. Dr. Asandra may recommend other treatments.
Peptide Therapy improves patient health and quality of life by diminishing many of the common effects of aging. The treatment uses amino acid sequences called peptides. They can be administered by injection, topical cream, nasal spray, or oral tablets. Peptides support healthy cell chemistry for the production of hormones and cell regeneration. This effective treatment can help with sleeping problems, low sex drive, and improve muscle densisty.
Autologous Conditioned Plasma Therapy (ACP)
ACP Therapy uses your own blood and can be used to improve several different aspects of your wellbeing. A simple blood draw is sent through a centrifuge to isolate its valuable regenerative properties, and the resulting plasma is injected into the area requiring improvement. ACP contains healing properties that can heal damaged tissue, improve joint pain, and stimulate hair growth.
AsandraMD helps patients find personalized solutions. Pricing for your hormone replacement therapy with pellets will depend on the number of pellets, sessions, and testing required to balance your hormones.
