LED Light Therapy with ELIXIR MD™

LED phototherapy is a non-invasive, non-thermal treatment. Often used in clinical and aesthetic dermatology, ELIXIR MD™ therapy offers a wide range of specific treatment options due to its variety of wavelengths. ELIXIR MD™ device provides an endogenous photobiomodulation process that activates several key mechanisms that change the skin’s biological pathways.

This process reconstructs skin molecules and cell membranes to prompt changes in pigmentation, acne formation, enlarged pores, and wrinkles. Dr. Asandra can tailor the ELIXIR MD™ treatments to target each patient’s specific needs, promoting efficacy and customizing each treatment for optimal results. (1)

ELIXIR MD™ Light Therapy with wide range of selectable wavelengths

The four main wavelengths used in LED light therapy are red (anti-aging), blue (anti-acne), and yellow (anti-redness, swelling and bruising) and infrared (pain management). ELIXIR MD™ provides a wide range of wavelengths with the ability to combine them, creating customizable treatments that target many different skin conditions.

The ELIXIR MD™ device offers five main treatments: (2)

  • DETOX™ – Blue light therapy is clinically proven to treat acne. This treatment also disinfects the skin by removing oils and toxins. Dr. Asandra recommends this treatment for patients dealing with breakouts, or pre-operatively to reduce the bacterial load on the skin and reduce the chances of postoperative complications and infections.
  • Cellular Repair™ – Through photobiomodulation, yellow light increases cellular activity, red blood cells production, circulation within the body and boosts the immune system.
  • Thermal™ – This treatment boosts cellular turnover to smooth skin texture and prompt the reconstruction of the skin’s mitochondria. Red light therapy also boosts the production of elastin and collagen fibers for more youthful-looking skin. By preventing skin laxity, Thermal treatments instigate overall skin rejuvenation.
  • NeoXcell™– The NeoXcell treatment optimizes the skin’s collagen production and regulates new pigment formation to even out a patient’s complexion. Dr. Asandra also recommends it to optimize skin health after cosmetic surgery to ensure structural support, elasticity, and firmness.
  • ROXIUM™ – ROXIUM treatments penetrate the skin’s protective biome, energizing the cells and prompting natural healing. It reduces pore size, supports antioxidant production, and improves the body’s lymphatic system. It also considerably reduces post procedure recovery times for those who recently received cosmetic procedures of any kind.

Though each treatment targets a specific cosmetic condition, they can be used for general skin maintenance as well. Dr. Asandra creates a specific plan to reconstruct your skin biome and induce healing that matches your cosmetic concerns.

Preparation and ELIXIR MD™ Treatment Protocols

There is little preparation required for ELIXIR MD™ treatments. Please arrive at your appointments with freshly cleansed skin free of makeup. Dr. Asandra provides protection for your eyes so they are not exposed to light during treatment. Then he places the ELIXIR MD™ directly above the targeted area. Depending on the treatment, each session takes around 20 to 30 minutes to complete. Dr. Asandra encourages patients to receive 6 to 8 treatments spaced about one week apart. He recommends your preferred amount of treatments during your private consultation.

Recovery & Results

ELIXIR MD™ therapy may induce mild skin irritation and redness that typically dissipates a few hours after treatment. Practicing gentle skincare and wearing sun protection maximizes and preserves your results. Each patient’s circumstances are unique. As the collagen in your skin starts to reproduce, you may notice increased breakouts, but eventually your cell turnover will slow down. Dr. Asandra recommends continuing treatments according to your customized plan to achieve optimal results. This increases your chances of achieving your skin goals and keeping your results for longer.

Complementary Procedure: Anti-Aging Skin Treatment

At AsandraMD, we offer Pico Fractional laser treatments to provide and maintain skin rejuvenation. Fractional laser treatments cause rapid collagen and elastin production by inducing controlled damage to the dermal layers. Much like ELIXIR MD™ treatments, this laser uses multiple wavelengths of light at once to optimize the laser’s power and depth. This improves its impact and ability to target pigmentation in the skin.

Pico Fractional treatments cause skin resurfacing, meaning the affected skin is damaged in a controlled way to make way for newer, healthier skin beneath. As the area heals, the targeted lesions are removed and replaced by way of collagen production. This process is long-lasting and can provide patients with revitalized skin after just one treatment.

FAQ

How often should I receive ELIXIR MD™

therapy?

Each patient requires a different, personalized treatment plan depending on their skin’s condition and cosmetic goals. One treatment a week for 4 to 6 weeks provides the best results. After your initial treatments are completed, you may decide to come back once a month to further cell regeneration and preserve your results.

Are the effects of ELIXIR MD™

therapy permanent?

No. Your skin is continuously shedding cells and regenerating throughout life, making it impossible to completely halt aging. To best preserve your results, protect your skin and continue ELIXIR MD™ treatments as needed. Since treatment is painless and cost-effective, ELIXIR MD™ can be repeated many times as long as the skin is given plenty of time to recover.

Is ELIXIR MD™

therapy only designed for facial rejuvenation?

ELIXIR MD™ therapy is gentle and safe, making it a suitable treatment option for many areas of the body. Though most often utilized for facial rejuvenation, it can also be applied to the abdomen, arms, and legs to promote cell regeneration and skin healing.

Can ELIXIR MD™

therapy be used to treat pain?

Yes. Infrared light, one of the selectable wavelengths in ELIXIR MD™, is generally used for pain management, promoting the relaxation of muscle tissue, and to temporarily increase local blood circulation where applied. The therapy can have analgesic effects, helping to alleviate post-procedural pain and discomfort.
